Carys Gwilym (The Tortoise) chews on some thoughts

You will be on tour for a few weeks. How do you survive being away from home for so long?

Long phone calls, texts and photo messages from my partner, son and dog! And generally just make sure that I enjoy the work that I’m doing and of course the people I’m working with.

Do you and your lovely character the Tortoise have anything in common?

Well! The thing that springs to mind is that I value friendship, my friends are very important to me. I’m also quite partial to lettuce - Romaine being my favourite.

What are the three best things about being an actor?

Being able to play different roles, human or animal

The camaraderie of a good cast and crew.

Taking your audience on a journey - without moving from their seats!

How do you relax after a show?

If it’s a day time show I’ll go for a long run, a swim or walk the dog. Or if it’s a night time performance I’ll normally go straight home, have a glass of wine and catch up on some Corrie episodes.
