Richard Nichols

Richard is from Porthcawl and trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. His theatre credits span The Butterfly Hunter/Heliwr Y Pili Pala to A Child’s Christmas in Wales (Theatr na nÓg). He appeared in numerous Shakespeare plays for Mappa Mundi for whom he also directed. Richard has appeared in family favourites like Danny The Champion of the World (Birmingham Stage) and Dr Who, as well as classics like One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Richard also performs in Welsh, on Pobol Y Cwm, Iechyd Da and Heliwr (S4C) alongside multiple appearances on radio.

Kate Elis

Kate Elis trained at ArtsEd where she gained an MA in acting. She has worked with theatre companies such as Taking Flight, Butterfly Theatre and Dirty Protest, and a particular highlight was performing throughout Wales and in New York with Motherlode Theatre’s The Good Earth. Kate enjoys working in both English and Welsh and played various roles in the sketch show Cacamwnci for S4C.

Alfred Russel Wallace

James Ifan

James graduated from Guildford School of Acting with a BA in Acting. His theatre credits include Calon Lân (Swansea Grand Theatre) Wilfred Owen in On Scarborough Front (Lighthouse Theatre), as the Mad Hatter (Sherman Theatre), Simon Steadfast in Sleeping Beauty (Theatr Clwyd) and in Hefin in A Good Clean Heart (Neaontopia/Wales Millennium Centre). He has held the role of Musical Director/Company Member in Theatr Clwyd at Elfed (Theatr Clwyd). James’ television credits have included singing with Only Boys Aloud and appearing in the Britain’s Got Talent Final 2012.

Puppet Designer and Maker

Ruby Gibbens

A graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Ruby Gibbens works with costume, woodwork, mould making and mechanisms to create fantastical puppetry, often inspired by folklore.
She has worked on numerous projects across Wales and beyond, including commissions for Teatro do Montemuro, Theatre By The Lake, The Fetch Theatre and many more.

Geinor Styles

Born in Merthyr Tydfil, Geinor attended the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and started her career teaching drama in California.
Geinor became Artistic Director of Theatr na nÓg in 1998 and since then has directed over 30 productions for the company. Her writing and direction reflect a warmth of character and love of storytelling, particularly of stories rooted in Wales. Her work for Theatr na nÓg has accumulated numerous awards over the years and been performed everywhere from Brazil to Hong Kong.

Production Manager

Geraint Chinnock

Geraint studied at the Department of Theatre, Film and Television at Aberystwyth University. With over 15 years experience, Geraint has worked for many theatre companies(Cwmni Rhosys Cochion, Arad Goch, Wales Theatre Company, Downtown Productions, National Theatre Wales and the National Eisteddfod) and has toured extensively throughout Wales and the rest of the UK. Geraint became Theatr na nÓg’s full time Production Manager in 2012 and has managed everything the company has produced since that time, including UK No 1 tour of TOM: A Story of Tom Jones, and recently sell out tours of Eye of the Storm and Nye & Jennie.


Frances Norburn

Frances Norburn studied Design for Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. In 2017 she was shortlisted for The Linbury Prize for Stage Design and became a RSC Trainee Designer Finalist in 2018. Frances’ background in fine art is a huge influence on the physical manifestations of her theatre design, which carefully balance form, composition and colour and are underpinned by a strong and coherent concept. She has worked with Sherman Theatre, DorchesterARTS, Boomtown Festival, Torch Theatre and Wild Creations among others.

Daniel Lloyd

Daniel Owain Lloyd is a bilingual Welsh director, actor and singer-songwriter. He is the frontman for the Welsh language band Daniel Lloyd a Mr Pinc, as well as a solo artist and established actor.
Directing credits: The White Feather (Theatr na nÓg). Actor credits: TOM: A Story of Tom Jones, Eye of the Storm,The Princess and The Hunter (Theatr na nÓg), Rock n’ Roll Panto at Clwyd Theatr Cymru, Mods and Rox (New Wolsey Theatre) Spring Awakening (Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru) and numerous TV credits including Dau Dŷ a Ni, Mici in Tipyn o Stad, Dafydd Meirion in A470 (ITV).

Composer and Musical Director

Barnaby Southgate

Barnaby is a professional musician with over 10 years experience in the music, film and theatre industries. His work ranges from Performing, Arranging, Conducting and Musically Directing to Teaching, Producing and Composing. Barnaby studied classical piano from an early age before going on to train as an actor at The Oxford School of Drama, and Actor Musicianship at Rose Bruford College.
Credits: recording on the soundtrack for Nina Gantz's BAFTA winning film Edmond, arranging and recording Grammy Award winning songwriter Amy Wadge's music for Eye of The Storm, Jamie Lloyd's The Commitments in which Barnaby originated the role of James Clifford.

Lighting Designer

Hristo Takov

Hristo is a professional lighting designer based in Cardiff.
Combining the experience before and after his studies in the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff - MA Theatre Design (Pathway: Lighting Design) course 2014/2015, Hristo’s experience spans all forms of performing arts from Opera and Theatre and Dance to Puppetry, Promenade Theatre and Outdoor Events. Credits include National Dance Company Wales, Music Theatre Wales, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and ATOM Theatre.

Sound Designer

Ian Barnard

Ian Barnard is a Cardiff based Sound Designer. After nearly a decade of experience working in Sound Engineering for Stage Sound Services, he turned his focus to Sound Design and teaching. Since July 2016 he has been a regular guest lecturer at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and worked on productions for Sherman Theatre, Bill Kenwright, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, RGM Productions and Theatr na nÓg.
