Cast Announced for Captivating Welsh War Tale The White Feather

This autumn we'll be presenting a devastating tale of family, love and loss at Swansea’s Dylan Thomas Theatre.

Following a young Swansea boy’s dream of wartime adventure and the harsh realities he encounters, The White Feather is a captivating retelling of the famous battle of Mametz Wood in war-torn northern France, where nearly 4000 Welshmen were killed or injured in 1916.

This original production beautifully interweaves narrative with beguiling Welsh folk music and is led by a cast of acclaimed actors and talented musicians: Huw Blainey, whose notable past roles include Boy in Sherman and New Vic Theatres’ stage adaptations of The Borrowers and Lloyd in Theatr na nÓg’s Eye of the Storm; Actor musician Keiran Bailey who featured in Theatr na nÓg’s past productions Tom and Eye of The Storm and whose musical credits include work with Charlotte Church and Jamie Smith’s Mabon among others; Geraint Rhys Edwards, who has worked on film, TV and stage across the country and winner of the Dorothy L Sayers Award for best newcomer; and the company are delighted to welcome fresh talent from Carmarthenshire born Lara Lewis, recently graduated from the Guilford School of Acting.

Both English and Welsh language performances of The White Feather will take place at Swansea’s Dylan Thomas Theatre on Remembrance Day weekend in November, to commemorate the end of World War I and the centenary of the women’s vote. Two weeks of performances and immersive workshops for schools will also be available.

The White Feather’s director Dan Lloyd said:
‘It’s exciting to be directing such a warm hearted yet tragic play about a family’s struggle during the horrors of first World War. It’s a terrific cast which will authentically bring to life an unforgettable period of our history through storytelling, poetry and music.’
