Sam Timmins
Sam joined the company as Thear na nÓg's Drama Outreach Coordinator in 2006 with an exciting challenge at her feet. The challenge...to develop a new programme of work for the company and to take it beyond its pilot year. Three years on and she's still here and enjoying her job more than ever!
How did she get here I hear you ask...
She was born in Swansea and is an only child, whose imaginative play throughout her childhood has come in very handy for her path into drama and theatre.
In 1998 Sam attended Gorseinon College where she studied Performing Arts and later she went on to complete a BH Honours Degree in Secondary Drama and Education at UWIC. Her qualifications led her to a years contract at Pontardulais Comprehensive were she worked closely with the Head of Drama and gained experience in devising performances and working with young people.
An acting role is not one that Sam has ever longed for, however teaching has always been an aspiration - with Theatr na nÓg she gets to watch actors at their best and take inspiration from the performances for her teaching of drama within various schools across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend.
Sam is a wife to Richie and a mother to, quite a recent arrival, Joshua. They live in Kingsbridge, Gorseinon and are enjoying the change in life style that comes with having a baby and becoming a family.
