Keiron Self

Keiron has written for all four series of the BBC Wales sketch show LUCKY BAG (series II was nominated for a Welsh BAFTA for best television comedy), VELVET SOUP series I & II (BBC2), TV TO GO series I & II (BBC1), REVOLVER, CUBBY COUCH (BBC 3), FIGHTING TALK (BBC 2W Digital), ANGRY KID series II (Aardman Animation) and  SCALLYWAGGA (BBC 3). He also wrote animation COUCH POTATOES and LITTLE PUDDING, a 30 minute educational drama for BBC1 Wales' SOCIAL ACTION series. For BBC Radio Wales, topical sketch show MY DOG'S GOT NO NOSE (series II - IV), mock documentaries TRUE LIVES - FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HOPKINS and TRUE LIVES - FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS, and EPIC TALES FROM WALES, THE MATINEE - DAI HARD, CHASING HARRISON FORD and THE ASSASSIN (co-written with Giles New).  Keiron wrote the linking script for BBC Radio Wales' MOVIE MUSIC AWARDS in 2003. For Radio Scotland - sketch show VELVET CABARET (series II & III).  For BBC Radio Wales he co-wrote the sitcom MY MATE GWYN with Giles New.  For BBC Radio 4 he and Giles wrote a sitcom pilot TYN-Y-TOWN, and contributed to the Radio 4 mock talent show ONE GOOD TURN.

Keiron also co-adapted Mappa Mundi Theatre Company’s versions of the THREE MUSKETEERS and THE CANTERBURY TALES and was sole adaptor of the recent MOLL FLANDERS for the company.   He wrote and directed short films FRIEND and DAD’S HAND shown in the Cardiff Screen Festival and also wrote THE PLAYHOUSE shortlisted for the DM Davies award 2005.  Most recently Keiron has written with writing partner Giles New for SHAUN THE SHEEP (Aardman) and THAT MITCHELL AND WEBB LOOK (BBC1) and is currently developing an animation project with DISNEY. 
Keiron is also an actor, most widely known for playing hapless dentist ROGER BAILEY in BBC1’s sit-com MY FAMILY starring alongside Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wanamaker. He is also a regular character on BBC Wales sitcom HIGH HOPES, has appeared on CASUALTY and various other radio and television shows and also performs regularly with Mappa Mundi Theatre Company.

He has twins. And still hasn’t caught up on his sleep.
