David Prince

Trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (back in the days when it was known simply as the Cardiff College of M & D, and, with no purpose-built facilities, comprised just a few rooms in the bowels of Cardiff Castle).  Until 10 years ago David’s career had chopped and changed between Theatre-in-Education and Performance Arts lecturing in FE colleges (initially on Merseyside; later in south Wales).  He abandoned lecturing in 1998 and has been a freelance actor – and occasionally director – ever since.

Companies worked for include Liverpool Lunchtime Theatre, Theatr Clwyd, Theatr Iolo, Theatr na n’Og, Fluellen and Sisbro Productions.  Every now and then he gets to do a bit film or TV (but not so as anyone would notice).

One of the highlights of David’s career was a one-man show about an epic cycle ride – which suggests a sideways link to Cyrano de Bergerac.  As the result of many cycling trips across France over the years, David has long been familiar with the geography of the play: Paris (everyone knows where that is); Arras (in the far north); and Bergerac itself (in southwest France).  He first came across the play as a sixth-former – it was an A level French set text; and, as a passionate Francophile, has loved it – passionately! – ever since.
